Connect Cursor to Bitácora
Add Bitácora to Cursor's MCP servers with one click or through its mcp.json file, give permission in the browser, and Cursor will apply your notes.
Who can do this
- For
- Designers, Your team
- Role
- “Can run with AI” and up
- Plan
- All plans, including Free
- Where
- On a computer
With the connector, Cursor reads your Bitácora projects and applies your notes to the screens. The changes reach the canvas while it works.
With one click
- Click Add to Cursor. You'll find it in Bitácora, in the Connect your AI box (Cursor tab) and in First steps › Another tool, and also on the Bitácora connector page.
- Confirm in Cursor.
- The first time Cursor uses Bitácora, it takes you to the browser to give permission. Continue with Give permission.
By hand, with mcp.json
Open the file
~/.cursor/mcp.json(create it if it doesn't exist) and paste this:{ "mcpServers": { "bitacora": { "url": "https://app.bitacora.live/mcp" } } }If the file already has other servers, add only the
bitacoraline insidemcpServers.- Save the file.
- In Cursor, turn on bitacora in the list of MCP servers. The browser opens so you can give permission.
In Bitácora, under the button, you'll find the same text to copy with your address already filled in.
Give permission
In the Bitácora window:
- Under How far it reaches, choose The whole workspace (all projects) or a single project.
- Under What it can do, leave Read and edit so it can apply your notes, or choose Read only so it only looks.
- Click Give permission.
If you connected from the Connect your AI box or from First steps, they turn green on their own.
Check that it works
In the Cursor chat, in agent mode, ask: Tell me which projects I have in Bitácora. If it answers with your list, you can now ask it to run your notes.
Troubleshooting
- Cursor doesn't open the browser: check that bitacora is turned on in the list of MCP servers. If it was, turn it off and on again.
- "That request expired": the permission window lasts 15 minutes. Turn the server on again and give permission right away.
- "Your role in this space does not allow running notes": connecting requires the Can run with AI role. Ask whoever runs the project for it.
- It stopped working overnight: if someone revoked the permission in Settings › Connector, connect again from Cursor.
