Connect Gemini CLI to Bitácora
Two commands in your terminal and one authorization in the browser, and Gemini CLI applies your notes from your computer.
Who can do this
- For
- Designers, Your team
- Role
- “Can run with AI” and up
- Plan
- All plans, including Free
- Where
- On a computer
If you work with Gemini CLI in the terminal, connect it to Bitácora and it can read your projects and apply your notes.
Add the connector
In your terminal, add the connector:
gemini mcp add --transport http -s user bitacora https://app.bitacora.live/mcpWith
-s userit works in all your folders, not just the current one.Open Gemini CLI and type:
/mcp auth bitacora
- The browser opens in Bitácora. Choose How far it reaches and What it can do, and click Give permission.
The same steps are in Bitácora, in the Connect your AI box (Gemini CLI tab) and in First steps › Another tool, and on the Bitácora connector page, under Gemini CLI, with the Copy the command button.
Check that it works
Ask Gemini CLI: Tell me which projects I have in Bitácora. If it answers with your list, you can now ask it to run your notes.
Gemini on the web is not the same
This guide is for Gemini CLI, the terminal tool. The Gemini web app connects from its own settings, with other steps and, for now, only in some countries and Google plans. They're on the same connector page, under Step by step in each tool.
Troubleshooting
gemini: command not found: Gemini CLI isn't installed yet, or you need to open a new terminal after installing it.- "That request expired": the permission window lasts 15 minutes. Type
/mcp auth bitacoraagain. - "Your role in this space does not allow running notes": connecting requires the Can run with AI role.
- It only works in one folder: you added it without
-s user. Add it again with the command above.
