Connect ChatGPT to Bitácora

Add Bitácora as a custom MCP server in ChatGPT, on the web, and authorize in the Bitácora window so ChatGPT can work on your projects.

With the connector, ChatGPT reads your Bitácora projects and can apply your notes to the screens.

Before you start

  • You do this on the ChatGPT website, not in the mobile apps.
  • On business accounts (Business, Enterprise, Edu), the account admin has to allow plugins with MCP.
  • OpenAI often renames these menus. If you can't find one, search for "MCP" in ChatGPT's settings.

Add the connector

  1. Copy the connector address:

  1. In ChatGPT, open Plugins in the sidebar and click +.
  2. Choose Add custom MCP server, name it Bitácora, and paste the address.
  3. For authentication, choose OAuth, accept the notice, and click Create as a plugin.
  4. A Bitácora window opens. In How far it reaches, choose The whole workspace (all projects) or a single project.
  5. In What it can do, leave Read and edit so it can apply your notes, or choose Read only.
  6. Click Give permission. You're back in ChatGPT with Bitácora connected.

In Bitácora you have the same steps in the Connect your AI box, which appears when you create a note without the AI connected, and in First steps, under Another tool. Both turn green on their own when ChatGPT connects, and their Not working? See the help link brings you to this page. In the ChatGPT tab, Open ChatGPT takes you to its Plugins.

Check that it works

In a new conversation, with Bitácora turned on, ask: Tell me which projects I have in Bitácora. If it replies with your list, you can now ask it to run your notes.

Run with your ChatGPT key

Not yet. In the Connect your AI box, the ChatGPT key shows Soon: for now Bitácora only runs with a Claude key. With the connector you don't need any key: your ChatGPT plan covers it.

Troubleshooting

  • You don't see Plugins or it won't let you add a server: on business accounts, ask the admin to allow plugins with MCP.
  • "That request expired": the permission window lasts 15 minutes. Start again from ChatGPT.
  • "Your role in this space does not allow running notes": connecting requires the Can run with AI role.
  • ChatGPT replies that it can't change anything: you gave Read only, or your ChatGPT plan limits it. To change the permission, revoke it in Settings › Connector and connect again.
