Group screens and assign owners

A group brings together on the canvas the screens of the same flow (sign-up, checkout, profile) under a name and a color. It helps you organize a large project and split up the work: each group can have its own owners.

Create a group

1. Click New group in the bar at the bottom of the canvas, or press G.
2. Draw a box over the screens you want to put together.
3. Type the group's name and press Enter.

If you already have screens selected (Select mode), New group groups them right away. With two or more selected, you also have Group at the end of the align bar.

Let them group themselves

Turn on Auto group in the bottom bar. Bitácora groups the screens by flow and, while it is on, places new screens in their group as they come in. Each time, it tells you what it did, with Undo. When you turn it off, the groups stay as they are.

Change a group

• Color: click the color swatch on its label and pick one.
• Name: double-click the name, or Rename in its menu (⋯).
• Move it: drag the group by its label. To take a group out of another one, hold Shift as you drop it.
• Sort automatically, in its menu: its screens line up in a row every time a new one comes in.
• Ungroup, at the end of the menu: the screens stay where they are. Ctrl+Z undoes it.

Assign owners

1. Open the group's menu (⋯) and choose Assign to….
2. Check the people who handle it. The menu stays open so you can check several.

Their names appear on the group's label. To see only your own, right-click the canvas background and choose Highlight my groups: the others are dimmed.

A group's owner can approve the changes to its screens in Review.

Who can do it

Creating, sorting and changing groups requires the Can review and comment role. Assign to… requires Can run with AI.
