Choose between several versions of a screen

Ask in a note for two or three proposals for the same element, compare them one at a time or side by side and keep the one you like.

The Versions bar goes through versions A, B and C of the header; B is chosen and Keep this one is pressed.

When you are torn between several solutions for the same element (a header, a button, a card), ask for all of them and decide by seeing them on the real screen.

Ask for several versions

Dictate or write a note that asks for the versions, for example: "Give me three versions of the header: one with a photo, one with text only and one with a large logo". When it runs, the versions stay inside the same screen.

See them and choose

Below the screen, the Versions bar appears, with a chip for each one (Version A, Version B… or whatever name they have) and All.

  1. In How to see them, choose One at a time (the screen moves on its own from one version to the next every few seconds; it stops when you hover over it) or Side by side (one copy per version, in a group to the right).
  2. Click the chip of the version you like.
  3. Click Keep this one.

The screen keeps only that version. The others are not lost: they stay in the screen history.

Side by side only shows up on mobile screens with up to five versions. On desktop screens, or with more versions, the panel offers Try in a new tab: see below.

Versions of several elements

If a screen has versions of more than one element (the navigation and the progress, for example), each one is chosen separately:

  • On a mobile screen, the versions box has a tab per element. Choose a version in each one; Keep this version of and the element only removes the others of that element.
  • On a desktop screen, each element has its own box right below it, Versions of and its name.

Try them in the full window

With Try in a new tab, or with Try design, each element with versions shows one and has a box below it with which one you are seeing and its arrows. On a computer, Shift+← → switches from one to the next. Choose this version keeps the one you are seeing for that element; the others stay as they are.

Who can do it

Anyone with access can see the versions and switch between them. Keeping one changes the screen and requires the Can run with AI role: without it, the bar does not show Keep this one.
